October 23 - 30, 2007DAY
1 We'll
stop for an included morning coffee and roll break in western Wisconsin, then we'll
continue across Wisconsin and Illinois on the way to our overnight in
Champaign. You'll be free to have dinner on your own.
DAY 2 Following
an included breakfast, we'll head south across Indiana to Louisville, Kentucky, where
we'll stop for lunch (on your own). Then we'll have a guided tour of Louisville,
followed by a visit to the Kentucky Derby Museum, and a guided walking tour of historic
Churchill Downs. To end our day, we'll check into our hotel and then board the Belle
of Louisville for an included evening dinner cruise on the Ohio River.

DAY 3 This
morning after included breakfast, we'll head south to Fort Knox, where we'll visit the
George C. Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor. Our next stop will be Bardstown, for a lunch
break (on your own) and visits to the Basilica of St. Joseph's Proto Cathedral, the Civil
War Museum, and the Haven Hill Distilleries Bourbon Heritage Center. After we check into
our hotel for the night, we'll head to the Old Stable for a wonderful and fun evening of
food, sing-along and hilarious comedy (with lots of audience participation).

DAY 4 Following included
breakfast this
morning we'll head southeast to the city of Stearns and the South Fork Scenic Railway
Depot. We'll have time for a break, and then board the train for a narrated ride
into coal country, the Blue Heron mining community, and the Barthell Mining Camp.
Later, we'll head to Middlesboro and the Cumberland Gap National Park Visitors Center,
where you'll learn the story of how Daniel Boone found the gap through the Appalachian
Mountains that opened up the trail to the west. We'll then head north to our
overnight in Corbin, where we'll visit the original Colonel Harland Sanders Cafe and
Museum (KFC) before we check into our hotel for the night.

DAY 5 This morning after included breakfast, we're off along Kentucky's Music
Trail. Our fist stop will be in Benham to visit the Kentucky Coal Mining Museum,
which focuses on the miners' lifestyle, mining equipment and the "Coal Miner's
Daughter," an exhibit honoring Loretta Lynn. Then we'll continue on to Van Lear
to see the childhood home of Loretta Lynn. This afternoon we'll drive the beautiful
Daniel Boone Parkway to Renfro Valley, to visit the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and
Museum. After we check into our hotel for the night, we'll enjoy an included dinner,
followed by the musical show at the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center.

DAY 6 Following
an included breakfast, we'll head north, stopping in Berea to visit the Kentucky Artisan
Center to learn the history of the Appalachian weavers. You'll have time to browse some of
the craft shops before we continue on to Fort Boonesboro to visit a replica of Daniel
Boone's original settlement. We'll arrive in Lexington in time for lunch on your own,
before a guided tour of "The Horse Capital of the World." A highlight will be a
stop at one of the thoroughbred horse farms in the area. After we check into our hotel,
the evening will be free to relax and have dinner on your own.
DAY 7 After included breakfast we'll travel north into
Ohio for our morning break and then into Indiana for our lunch break (on your own). This
afternoon we'll take a break before we arrive in the Chicago area for our overnight.
After checking into our hotel, we'll enjoy an included farewell dinner.
 
DAY 8 Our last day starts with an included breakfast before we
continue north across Wisconsin and back to the Twin Cities. We should arrive home late
this afternoon, filled with wonderful memories of the beautiful state of Kentucky.
