Featuring historic Pipestone and the Royal River Casino.

DAY 1  We'll head south this morning for the wonderful "Song of Hiawatha" pageant tour. We'll stop for an included morning break, the continue on to Pipestone for a included lunch. This afternoon we'll visit the Pipestone National Monument, and have time to browse the Visitors Center. Later we'll travel the short 17 miles to Flandreau, South Dakota and the Royal River Casino/Hotel for our overnight. Each passenger will receive $25. in coin, players card and coupons for included dinner and breakfast buffets. You will have time to unpack, enjoy dinner and try your luck in the casino prior to heading back to Pipestone and Pipestone Lake for the wonderful "Song of Hiawath" pageant. The pageant takes place in an impressive outdoor amphitheater with a cast of 200 men, women and children that make this great poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow come to life. Later we'll return to the hotel.


DAY 2   Following included breakfast we'll return to Minnesota and visit the 1880 McCone Sod House in Sanborn, MN, located on the Laura Ingalls Historic Highway.  The house is similar to the prairie dugout constructed in 1874 by the family of Laura Ingalls Wilder, on the banks of Plum Creek outside Walnut Grove. Later we'll stop for a lunch break on your own. This afternoon we'll depart for home making a stop in Le Sueur to drive past the W.W. Mayo home en-route back to the Twin Cities. We should arrive back in the Twin Cities around 5:30 pm at our first stop.
